Sometimes, It’s Good To Care Less And Be Careless

The recent ‘Friends: The Reunion’ made many of us nostalgic and as for me, I have started watching the timeless series once again. This time round, the series revealed to me a different perspective. Perhaps, I may be late in comprehending the true message of the series. Many might have already unraveled it. Nevertheless, I decided to share this revelation.

I am sure many of us would agree that it is the carelessness of some characters in the series that brings out the laughter. For instance, the time when Joey gets to work making a cabinet and ends up making one too big. The dialogues do make it wonderfully funny but it is these typical traits of each one that makes the show enjoyable. So there’s Lesson #1 — accepting the differences. (I know, this one is a cliché.) Accepting those differences because it’s these differences that make life enjoyable.

Lesson #2 — what is wrong with being careless? No really, I mean just imagine a room with 4 people and each one of them is perfect. Each one of them does everything prudently and never is anything out of line. Don’t you think that room will be the most uneventful place? If carelessness can leave behind a funny, unforgettable memory, which will bring a smile to your face years later, isn’t accepting a bit of carelessness good? For many, accepting a careless person is not easy as they mature. But here is something to mull over when we come across such an individual — What would life be like if this person did not exist? Sure, we will have all the intelligent jokes to laugh on but these simple people can certainly create a good lasting memory.

Now, most of us have learned that it is important to mindfully plan out our life but it is rigid planning that can cause stress for most. For some, it can be achieving a set goal that causes stress, and it can be as small a task as getting the home interiors right. Even a tiny feather sticking out of the plumage can leave us agitated. But there are certain small details we miss out when planning that are not in our control. So that brings me to Lesson #3 — Care less. It is best not to attach too much importance to the PLAN and let life deviate a little so it can lead you in a direction, which might turn out to be the best for you.

It is when we start to care less about everything in life that we truly begin to enjoy every bit of it!
